I got a some haters hitting my Zazzle account (and other sites) with 1 votes and I want to turn it off (I know they're drinking the hater-aid because they are emailing and calling my house with harassing and threatening messages).
I'm used to social heavy lifting and can handle the hate and immaturity. I just want to minimize their effects on my innocent visitors.
I count vote by the sales I get. That is the real vote; DOLLARS. This star voting thing is not useful to me and I want to turn it off.
How can I turn off the star VOTE system?

you cannot turn it off...but actually by giving you 1 star they are HELPING you...
every time they go to your product to vote that gives your product another view and pushes it high in the MP...
also from past experience it seems that an item with 1 star does better then an item with no star...so...the more they hate the more they are helping you!!

I came to balance your star rating but I didn't see any product who hasn't got a 5 star rating..

You haven't been hit by the one star bandit.
What you've actually had is 1 Vote where the person gave you 5 stars. Those 5 yellow stars are good. If you'd only been voted with 1 star you's have 1 yellow and 4 white stars.
Whoever is "emailing and calling my house with harassing and threatening messages" is not the same person rating your Zazzle products

Thanks everyone! chosenpeople wrote:I came to balance your star rating but I didn't see any product who hasn't got a 5 star rating.. Thank you! I ended up having to make a change to the one particular shirt that is drawing all the negative attention, the UNCLE SAM one, thus resetting the vote. nyxxie wrote:They're calling your house? I was all excited with the minor success I am having with the particular t-shirt, that I emailed all my friends and family. Well some of them flipped out and became psychotic.

yea but by deleting the original and making another one
you just deleted the market ranking and the links to that product and all the MP ranking that popular shirt had - and now you are starting over...
you would have been better to go in and just give yourself 5 stars and ask people you know to 5 star it - after a handfull of them it would move it from 1 star to 5...

You're right. Thanks for the info, which I hadn't considered. Thank you! My client requested a change so I had to delete that instance of the tshirt. After what you've told me I wish that I was able to keep the one that was getting all the 1 votes.

I wish they would remove the star rating system too. We aren't here to win a contest or be critiqued, we are here to sell stuff. And this isn't ebay where we are being rated by our CS, product quality and shipping, Zazzle does all of that. Could you imagine being able to rate every product at Walmart or go to the Piggly Wiggly and put little star stickers on their tomatoes?

You can rate products on walmat.com and other big box shopping sites which is a much better comparison to zazzle It does help weed out the designs that no-one really likes and promote popular designs to the top. The only issue is that the system is far to easily open to abuse.

I recently had all my pig farming business cards rated 1 star shortly after uploading them. It stung a bit but if it brings my porky piglets up in the ranks for people who do like piggies then so be it! I don't think people should be able to rate products, simply because personal opinions, political beliefs, or in my case certain religions or vegetarian lifestyles probably drive the votes more often than quality of the product design.

Well, one of my best selling products here at Zazzle is also one of my lowest "star rated" products. So, I don't think the stars impact sales. That is true about a few of my most popular designs. I think a high ranking design in the MP probably makes it a target for one star raters. I'm surprised they made it through Zazzles latest focus group. They didn't care for our descriptions but they liked the stars? I have never liked them since I started here at Zazzle. It would save me a lot of time if they tossed this system too because I try to rate every product I do immediately because it does seem to impact MP ranking and that is a time consumer. Only customers are allowed to rate products at most sites, they have to show proof of purchase and they are rating the product it's self. That means some customers at Zazzle may think if a product is rated low it means the quality of the product, paper, fabric etc. is bad and not think about competition down rating other peoples designs or because of religious or political views. If only customers were allowed to rate products and forced to also give a review I would be alright with that.
